Get In The Game of pin-hooking
Get In The Game of pin-hooking
enjoy all the thrills at a fraction of the price
How it Works?
Get In the Game is an invitation for you to get involved in the pin-hooking process by buying shares in the horses listed on this website. This is an exciting opportunity to dip your toe in the water and invest in the bloodstock industry, with a one-off payment and without the add on monthly training fees.

It’s a great opportunity to share the risk, the fun, and the rewards!

The Process
Horses are purchased as yearlings either at public sales (there are several sales every year all over the world) or privately (directly from the owners). Then they come to the farm to be prepared for the breeze-up sales, that will take place the following year.

As a shareholder you will be part of the game and you’ll be involved in the process:
  • You’ll have exclusive access to the owners' page where you will receive regular updates on your horses' training and development
  • You’ll receive a weekly video in your inbox
  • You’ll be able to attend open days to come see your horses at work
  • You’ll have the opportunity of coming to the sales to see your horses going through their paces and passing through the ring

FAQs

What is a breeze?

Racehorses traditionally exercise 6-7 days a week at walk, trot, and canterpaces. One day a week, they do a piece of work at racing pace. This is known as a breeze or fast work.

What is a breeze up sale?

A breeze up sale has two main phases. Phase One is two-year-olds breezing over three furlongs at maximum speed. These breezes are videoed, timed, analysed and rated by prospective buyers. During Phase Two, horses are inspected, vetted, and offered for sale in the auction ring. Bidding takes place at the venue and online.

What is a pin-hooker?

In terms of investment, a pinhooker is someone who puts their money into the market and takes it back out in a short period of time. The Get in the Game investment is in yearlings bought in September/October who are sold in the following April/May as two-year-olds.

What is a breeze up consignor?

A breeze up consignor is a person or organisation which buys unbroken, unraced, untried yearlings (equivalent of 14-year-old human) and sells ready to run racehorses.

Who buys the horses?

Horses are bought by The Bloodstock Connection selection team (headed by Johnny Hassett) who proudly boast as elite consignors: 14% of horses rated over 100. This places them in the top 10% in Europe amoung their peers.

How Much Does it cost?

Shares can be purchased in denominations of €100, €500 and €1,000.

What happens when the horses are sold?

Funds are released 30 business days after the day of the auction and they are forwarded to the shareholders before 1st July.

What happens if the horses are not sold?

If the horse is not sold at the sale either in the ring or privately, they are placed in the next available online auction with no reserve (there’s at least one every 30 days).

What happens if the horse gets hurt and doesn’t make it to the sales?

Our consignors, The Bloodstock Connection, have a 100% record of horses making sales in the last 4 years. However, in the unlikely event of this happening, horses will be sold in the next online auction with no reserve.

Are the horses insured?

Shareholders are free to insure their investment with an equine insurance agent which costs between 2-3% per annum.

How long will I own a share for?

From your date of purchase to the end of the breeze up season i.e. 30th June

How many shares are there for each horse?

We limit the value of shares available for each horse, however we do not place restrictions on the denominations available to purchase, so the number of owners involved will depend on what values the shares are purchased in.

How is the share value of the horse determined?

The value of the horse is determined by calculating the cost price plus the expenses involved in training the horse.
